The roots
Fortunato Fiorentino learned metal in the wire-drawing mills. That is where he understood how it behaves under your hands, and how a company really works: two things no school teaches you.
It could have been enough. Instead, in the Seventies, when his shift ended he went home and started another one: at night, in a garage, he had begun polishing parts for other companies. No sign above the door, no plant. A bench, two hands, and parts going back nicer than they arrived.
There was no business plan behind it. There was a man who knew how to do one thing well and was not willing to do it halfway. Out of that garage came his first business of his own — a very small one, doing only that. Everything else was born out of those nights.
